Religion: Defined,Explained,Torn Apart

Most people would look at religion as a live preserver or a spritiual swim noodle; I [however] look at it as a waste of time and energy. How many people reading this have wondered “I think i still have something in the oven, I think” or “8:30; Jeez these things take forever, I have a meeting to get to in 15 minutes.” Its seriously like they drag these things on forever. Answers.com Defines ‘Religion’ as:

  1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
  2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
  3. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
  4. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
  5. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

What exactly is the line between religion and insanity; Could you worship a giant banana named “Maria” and still define it as religion? It’s fundamentally the same thing. We worship or praise something or someone that has been dead for 2009 years. This does not meet the definition of insanity? Answers defines insanity as such:

Mental illness or derangement. No longer in scientific use.
Law.
Unsoundness of mind sufficient in the judgment of a civil court to render a person unfit to maintain a contractual or other legal relationship or to warrant commitment to a mental health facility.
In most criminal jurisdictions, a degree of mental malfunctioning sufficient to relieve the accused of legal responsibility for the act committed.

Extreme foolishness; folly.
Something that is extremely foolish.

Tell me this: Does it not seem foolish to worship/praise something that you don’t know exists? Yes, ponder that for a moment.
